Xifrem (pronounced "chifrem") is an encrypted chat with both symmetric and asymmetric encryption completely client-side.
The reason we started Xifrem is that we didn't found any communication app that we can securely chat through it, the other reason is that we don't believe in that thing called end-to-end encryption and considered it to be the biggest lie ever in the 21st century, because as long as you did not generate your public and private keys, then it's only a matter of trust and you only have to rely on these chat apps providers not to leak your keys and therefore leak your conversations, and we've seen a lot of similar scandals and still do.
Xifrem offers both Symmetric and Asymmetric encryption "completely client-side", meaning that text is encrypted in your browser through a password or a public key before being sent to the recipient and only the recipient can decrypt it.
We use both Symmetric and Asymmetric encryption.
For Asymmetric we support ( Curve25519 )
For Symmetric we support ( AES-GCM )
Simply click the "Generate Room" button and a room link will be generated for you to send to a friend. Text, email, or send the link to them via any other channel, and when they click it you both will enter a secure chat.
Simply click the "Options" button and a menu will appear where you can choose between Symmetric and Asymmetric encryption, Add your password or GPG keys and start chatting.
If you have encountered a bug or discovered a vulnerability then you can report it on our Github repo through a new issue, or if you don't need to disclose the vulnerability in public due to security concerns then we appreciate it and will be glad to hear from you at, firstname.lastname@example.org
Currently, we only have a web application. But, mobile applications are a number one priority for us, your donations and support will make it happen.
Xifrem comes in two memberships, "Anonymouse" which is absolutely free with no sign-up
required, and the "Pro" membership which only costs 5$ per month, the difference is that Pro
membership allows you to have 15 participants per room rather than the "Anonymouse"
membership which allows you to only have 10 participants, Also, Pro membership allows you to
have two custom room names of your choice reserved for you.
PGP key generation is a resource-intensive process. As a result, you may experience increased CPU and memory usage on your device, which can result in performance issues. The performance impact depends on the hardware capabilities of your device.
